Depression is one of the leading mental health issues with teens that have committed active attacks at schools. So, how do we as a society help our youth? In 2007 Apple released the IPhone. From 2007 to 2017 depression cases in children from the ages of 12 to 17 have increased 52%. There has also been a major decrease in the amount of sleep kids are receiving each night. Could this be a direct correlation to the kids spending too much time on their phones? Some would say yes. We have an epidemic in the United States and it is not a drug or a disease. It is the over stimulation of our youth through the use of electronic devices. Our country is filled with angry, depressed and violent youth that need us as parents and leaders to recognize and find a solution to a problem that will not go away on its own.
